To sustainably improve the quality of the conduct of clinical trials the commitment of specialized personnel is essential. These experts designated as Study Nurses - mostly nurses/male nurses with upgraded qualifications, physician assistants or medical technical assistants - are familiar with national and international regularities and the conventions in daily routine of clinical trials. Due to their skills they are able to support the investigator in the professional and high-quality implementation of clinical trials.
The Study Nurse Academy (formerly Working Group Study Nurse) was founded in 1999 with the goal to train members of medical assistant and caring professions as Study Nurses. It involves physicians and Study Nurses of the pharmaceutical industry, contract research organisations, universities and hospitals, and is affiliated to the Association for Applied Human Pharmacology (Ger.: AGAH e.V.).
